I was about to post a tweet, just now, when I decided to open up the idea in more than 140 characters. The tweet would have looked like this:
Are we ready for a Christian BlogoSphere? ie: a place for Christan bloggers/writers to be just that... or is that focusing too inward? So, what says you? In a shocking response to my own thoughts, I'm actually on both sides of the fence. I believe that the Internet is a hole for evil, and if you don't watch your step, you're bound to fall in. At the same time, I also believe labeling something, or someone, as Christian, there has to be a set criteria. I'm sure, if this was middle school, I wouldn't be allowed in the 'Christian Writers' group at recess. Why? Mainly because I use words that most Christian writers wouldn't use... like "liberal" and "alternative music" but with my egotistical comments aside, they just seem too cool to hang out with me.
Don't get me wrong, I know I'm just another fan boy, from time to time, but I follow a hand full of writers, who also happen to be Christian, and I'm more than happy going to their individual sites to read their stuff. However, what would the impact be if all of these writers got together and formed one site, or even contributed to one site while their own sites get their daily hits. I'm talking about actual contributions, not just reposts, but would that be asking too much from a writer? Would you post daily on your own site then weekly, or bi-weekly at another site?
What would this mean, though? It would be a center for online Christian writing. Need to find a Christian bloggers opinion about something, one click, it would have a boat load of them to pick from. Maybe I'm just dreaming big.
